Hydrovac Operator

Location: Lakeville, MN
Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, On-Call One Weekend Per Month

Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for operating the Hydro Excavation Trucks (also known as Hydrovac Trucks) and executing job assignments safely and effectively. You will be using high-pressure water to cut through earth materials and vacuum systems to perform minor and major excavation tasks, maintain equipment, and troubleshoot mechanical issues. You may also be performing utility locating around high profile gas mains or electrical conduits.
The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and experience operating excavation equipment. They must hold a valid CDL Class A (Manual Shifting) driver's license and a clean driving record, and be enrolled or willing to enroll in the 49ers Operators Union. They must also pass a pre-employment drug test, as well as quarterly and random drug tests.
We have top of the line hydrovac trucks. 1200 and 1600 Mud Dogs made by Super Products. Most of them being like new.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in hydrovac, trucking, vacuum truck, or related industrial operations is preferred.
- Minimum CDL A or B license with a clean driving record and experience driving a manual transmission (10-18 speed) is preferred.
- Tanker endorsement is required.
- OSHA10 safety certification is required (if not held, Badger will pay for computer-based training).
- Additional safety certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Confined Space) are preferred.
- Experience in labor-intensive positions and ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work variable shifts with extended hours.
- Independent and team-oriented with a focus on safety.
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment and machines.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
Successful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check, MVR history, drug test, physical (DOT & Non-DOT), and must meet physical demands as determined by a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE).
Physical Demands:
- Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions.
- Repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, and crawl.
- Lift a maximum of 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the Hydro Excavation combo truck and executing job assignments safely and effectively. Using high-pressure water and vacuum systems, you will perform minor and major excavation tasks while maintaining equipment and assisting with minor repairs if needed. You will occasionally be performing utility locating around high profile gas mains or electrical conduits.
The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail. They must have experience in labor-intensive positions, hold or be able to obtain a Medical Card, and be enrolled or willing to enroll in the Local Laborers 563 Union. They must also have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Finally, the ideal candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test, as well as quarterly and random drug tests.
Requirements:
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Have a working smart phone capable of downloading your payroll app
- Physical ability to lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work in loud environments
- Clear communication skills (Must be fluent in English)
- You MUST have an understanding of basic blueprints, or be willing to take classes in order to learn.
- Clean driving record
- MUST have an eye for detail and overall safety
- Enrolled or willing to enroll in the Local Laborers 563 Union

- Strong stomach, as some job assignments may involve cleaning live sanitary sewers
- Willingness to travel for short-term work assignments and training
- Willingness to be on call one to two weekends per month
Responsibilities include:

- Perform work on new and existing manholes, sometimes from 40+ feet high
