frequently asked questions

What is Mechanical Spot Repair?

Mechanical Spot Repair is a trenchless method that uses a stainless steel sleeve with a rubber gasket to seal and reinforce damaged sections of pipe. It’s ideal for stopping infiltration, exfiltration, and root intrusion without digging. The sleeve is mechanically expanded inside the pipe, locking it in place over cracks, offsets, or leaking joints—restoring structural integrity and flow in both gravity and pressurized systems.

Sectional Point Repair is a no-dig pipe rehabilitation technique where a short section of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner is installed over localized damage—like cracks, joint separations, or corrosion. Rather than lining the entire pipe, it targets specific problem areas using fiberglass patches that are cured in place, creating a new structural pipe wall inside the damaged section.

Sewer repair costs vary based on the type of repair, pipe size, location, and access. Sectional or mechanical point repairs are often more cost-effective than full replacements, with prices generally ranging from a few thousand to several thousand dollars per repair. We recommend a video inspection and site evaluation to identify the best solution for an accurate estimate.

Repairing a sewer—especially with trenchless methods—saves time, money, and disruption. Spot repairs can fix isolated issues without digging up roads, landscaping, or utilities. In many cases, targeted repairs extend the life of the pipe system for decades at a fraction of the cost of full replacement, with minimal impact on the surrounding area.
